Anna Mikhaylina, grew up in Tambov, Russia, where in her formative years, she was fortunate to interact with and listen to the stories of the WWII veterans, who frequently spoke of their life experiences at schools and community events. As a law clerk at Jackson & MacNichol, Anna was inspired by the stories and courage of American veterans, and decided to practice in the veterans disability law field.
Anna earned a J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law, cum laude. In law school, Anna focused her studies in estate planning and tax law, and was awarded a 2017 Stanley R. Arnold State Tax Scholarship from New England State and Local Tax Forum. She also interned with Maine Revenue Services, and local and regional accounting firms. Additionally, Anna had externships with the Maine Business and Consumer Court, the legal department at TD Bank, and volunteered at the Refugee and Immigration Services in Portland. Anna continues to enjoy learning about the complexities of the U.S. legal system, and wonders what is the next legal definition of the word “house” that she will encounter.
When not working, Anna enjoys traveling, discovering Maine beaches and local oysters.
